What the published guidance says
Griffith describes credit for earlier formal study and for non-formal or informal learning. Its preparation guidance asks applicants to review programme requirements and compare previous learning with relevant courses. A Credit Precedent Database can inform enquiries about earlier study.
Classify the record before you upload it
A university transcript, a workplace course and learning from an unplanned work problem do not tell an assessor the same things. Write down what each record confirms and what explanation is still needed. This makes an application easier to understand.
A precedent for someone else’s earlier study is useful context, not proof that your whole background has already been assessed. Check the exact institution, course and learning involved. If your case is different, ask how it should be reviewed rather than forcing it into a similar-looking entry.
An example to think through
A learner could have a transcript, an employer training record and an example of resolving a technical problem. The transcript may show assessed content, the training record may need a syllabus, and the problem-solving account needs evidence of the learner’s reasoning. Sorting those differences is a worthwhile first task.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
What does each document actually certify or demonstrate?
Does a precedent match the exact earlier study I completed?
Which Griffith course outcomes would my evidence address?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
