What the published guidance says
TESU’s graduate catalog describes portfolio credit for demonstrated mastery of relevant graduate learning outcomes. It says not all graduate programmes accept PLA and that school approval and course limitations apply. The university’s PLA guidance also describes working with a graduate mentor.
Show how you evaluated a difficult question
An advanced account needs more than a record of responsibility. Explain how you examined competing ideas, judged the quality of information and recognised uncertainty. Evidence of a senior role can support context, but the narrative needs to make the learning visible.
Check programme permission before developing the full portfolio. Then keep each piece of evidence connected to the approved learning outcomes. Do not assume that a large number of supporting documents will compensate for a gap in analysis, or that a mentor’s review is a guarantee of credit.
An example to think through
A professional who recommended a change in organisational policy could discuss the evidence considered, the alternatives rejected and the limitations of the recommendation. An authorised report might support that explanation. A short statement that the policy was adopted would not, by itself, demonstrate the depth of the learning.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
Does my TESU graduate programme accept the proposed PLA claim?
Which advanced learning outcomes would I need to demonstrate?
What evidence supports my reasoning rather than just the final decision?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
