What the published guidance says

UniSQ’s higher education entry guidance discusses using earlier study in admissions and its associated selection assessment. The university separately explains recognition of prior learning for credit, including formal study and experience. The intended degree and its rules govern both enquiries.

Ask for an entry answer and a study-plan answer

An offer to study tells you about admission. It does not necessarily confirm which units have been satisfied by earlier learning. Keep the two outcomes separately recorded so that you do not plan your workload around an exemption that has not been granted.

The distinction also matters when changing subject. A prior qualification may support academic readiness without matching the content of the new degree. Be clear about what you want the earlier learning to do, and ask which documents are needed for that specific decision.

An example to think through

A graduate moving into a different discipline may be eligible for consideration through prior higher education yet still need most of the new subject content. A learner staying in a closely related area may have a different credit question. A confirmed admissions result cannot tell either person the complete remaining study plan on its own.

This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.

Three questions to take forward

1

Am I asking whether I can enter the degree or which units I can avoid repeating?

2

How closely does my earlier learning match the new discipline?

3

Have I received a separate, confirmed credit decision before planning my workload?

Availability, costs and ToHave’s role

Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.

ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
