What the published guidance says

Maynooth’s RPL information permits consideration of relevant formal, non-formal and informal learning for admission. Its application guidance asks applicants to identify the purpose of their claim and provide evidence. Not every programme offers every form of RPL.

Explain readiness for this programme, not general seniority

An admissions enquiry should connect your background to the preparation the course expects. Choose examples showing how you analyse information, learn independently and communicate a reasoned conclusion. A senior job title can provide context, but it does not answer those academic questions.

Read the programme page before choosing a form. Keep a note of the entry requirements you appear to meet, those you want considered through RPL and anything that needs clarification. This makes the enquiry specific without pretending that an alternative entry decision has already been granted.

An example to think through

A professional who has led training projects might identify the learning design, the evidence used to evaluate results and the changes made after feedback. These examples could help explain preparation for further study. They do not create a first degree or guarantee a place on a particular postgraduate course.

This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.

Three questions to take forward

1

Is RPL admission available for my chosen programme?

2

Which entry expectations am I asking the university to assess?

3

What evidence shows that I can manage the academic work ahead?

Availability, costs and ToHave’s role

Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.

ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
