What the published guidance says
Charter Oak’s catalog describes portfolio assessment against a specific college course. Undergraduate students normally complete the IDS 102 portfolio-development course or obtain an approved exception. The guidance distinguishes demonstrated college-level learning from time spent in an activity.
Treat the portfolio as academic work
Allow time for writing, reviewing and organising evidence. A portfolio is not simply a scan of certificates or a job application. It asks you to make a learning claim and give the reader a reason to accept that the supporting material is relevant.
Discuss the intended course challenge with an academic counsellor before preparing the full file. It needs to make sense in your degree plan. If a training credential already has an established credit route, ask about that first rather than duplicating the same learning in a new portfolio.
An example to think through
A trainer could identify learning about planning instruction, adapting material and evaluating participation. Session slides might show the material created, while a reflective account could explain the choices. A list of the number of people trained would provide context but would not show all of that learning on its own.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
What preparation or approved exception would I need before submitting?
Would the proposed course challenge fit my degree plan?
Can I explain the learning clearly enough for an academic reader?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
