What the published guidance says
Deakin publishes different maximum-credit and minimum-study requirements for graduate certificates, graduate diplomas and coursework master’s degrees. Its guidance also identifies compulsory units and other course rules. A credit ceiling is not an individual assessment result.
Compare what you still need to learn
Start with your purpose for returning to study. A shorter award may serve a focused learning goal, while a larger programme may have a different scope. Do not choose solely by calculating the largest possible recognition claim.
Use the course map to record what would remain under a confirmed decision. Ask about the order of units and the effect of any credit on the study sequence. Fewer units do not always translate into the exact timetable you first imagined, especially where later study depends on earlier requirements.
An example to think through
A working professional may compare a graduate certificate with progressing later to a coursework master’s. The practical question is how the proposed learning and any recognition fit each award’s rules. Assuming that the same exemption automatically produces the same benefit in both plans skips that comparison.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
Which qualification best matches my learning goal?
What minimum study and compulsory components apply?
How would a credit decision affect the sequence of the remaining units?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
