What the published guidance says
Deakin’s RPL guidance includes previous higher education, vocational study and employment learning. It also points to course-specific conditions and compulsory units. Course maps show the units and sequence for the relevant course and intake, helping place any recognition within a full plan.
Use the right map for your course
A course code or similar title is not enough to establish the requirements for your own enrolment. Check the version of the course map that applies, then identify the units you hope earlier learning could address. Keep the source and date of the documents you use.
For formal study, gather transcripts and unit information. For workplace learning, prepare an explanation supported by relevant records. The two may appear in the same enquiry, but they should remain distinguishable. Do not treat an informal training certificate as though it already carries university credit.
An example to think through
Someone with a vocational qualification and later industry learning could prepare two separate evidence lists. The qualification record helps establish assessed study; the workplace account explains additional learning. Comparing both with the intended course map can show where a useful question exists and where compulsory study may still be needed.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
Am I using the correct course map and intake information?
Which evidence is formally assessed study and which is work-based learning?
What compulsory units would remain regardless of the claim?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
