What the published guidance says
SUNY Empire’s undergraduate catalog describes credit for verifiable college-level learning through several routes, including individualized assessment. Its individualized degree information explains working with a mentor to connect prior learning, new study and the requirements of the planned qualification.
Build the plan around a purpose
Write down what you want the degree to help you understand or do. Then separate earlier coursework, professional learning and areas you still need to study. A degree plan should show a direction, rather than simply collect the largest possible credit total.
An associate and a bachelor’s degree have different scope and requirements. Ask where each proposed learning claim would fit and what academic study would remain. Do not assume that recognition relevant to one plan can be dropped unchanged into another.
An example to think through
An adult learner may have college credits in one field and workplace learning in another. A mentor discussion can explore whether those pieces support a coherent direction. The existence of useful experience does not settle the degree title, concentration or the balance of new study required.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
What academic goal connects the parts of my proposed degree?
Which learning has an official transcript and which needs assessment?
Where would each credit claim fit in the plan?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
