What the published guidance says

The BSc RPIL guide describes applicants with 300 earlier credits, including 60 at Scottish Level 9, who can demonstrate continuing professional learning at degree level. Its evidence guidance includes analytical writing and a reflective portfolio. This is a Health Sciences route with stated conditions.

Check the qualification record before the portfolio

Ask for a clear record of the diploma, credit volume and academic level. Scottish level numbers need their proper context; do not casually translate them into the numbering used elsewhere in the UK. If the starting qualification is unclear, resolve that before spending time on an assessment narrative.

Professional practice then needs interpretation. Describe how you evaluated evidence, changed a decision or responded to feedback. Patient or service-user information should not be included simply to make a story feel convincing. Use authorised, appropriately anonymised material.

An example to think through

A clinical team member might explain why a familiar approach was changed after reviewing new evidence. The preparation task is to describe the reasoning and the limits of their role, not to copy a patient record. A supervisor could potentially corroborate responsibilities without identifying the person receiving care.

This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.

Three questions to take forward

1

Does my earlier qualification match the route’s stated starting point?

2

Can the credit level and volume be verified from official records?

3

How can I evidence professional learning while protecting confidentiality?

Availability, costs and ToHave’s role

Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.

ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
