What the published guidance says
Middlesex assesses prior learning against academic level, credit volume and relevant outcomes. Its guidance says participation in training, years of experience and job titles are insufficient on their own. Credit depends on learning that can be evidenced and assessed.
Explain the judgement behind the task
Choose a moment when you had to make a decision, rather than an item from your job description. Explain what information you used, what alternatives you considered and how you reviewed the result. This gives an assessor something more concrete than a claim that you are experienced.
A certificate can still matter, but identify exactly what it confirms. Attendance, successful assessment and an academic credit award are different things. Keep supporting records close to the learning claim so the reader does not have to guess why a document has been included.
An example to think through
A customer-service manager could describe how they investigated repeated complaints. A useful account would show the method chosen, the evidence considered and what changed in their understanding. A performance chart without that explanation might show a business result while leaving the person’s learning unclear.
This is an illustrative preparation example, not a past applicant’s story or an approved assessment outcome.
Three questions to take forward
What did this example teach me that goes beyond doing the task?
Which records corroborate the explanation?
Am I describing assessed learning accurately rather than overstating a certificate?
Availability, costs and ToHave’s role
Requirements can change with the programme, subject, application date and your own evidence. Check the institution’s current information before relying on a route. Admission, academic credit, a complete qualification and professional registration are different decisions.
ToHave can help organise genuine evidence and support a suitable application where permitted. Our service fee is £100 GBP, payable at the end of the work. Any institution charges and agreed external costs are separate. Read the service conditions and costs. The institution decides the academic outcome; our support does not guarantee approval.
